| Transcript | August 9th 60 [1860?]. Thanks dearest for your [note?] of the 21st Ult. they are very cheering & do me more good than anything except seeing for myself. If my Revd. brother only could see son with your eyes I have no doubt he might be tempted to break the 10th commandment. I dare say I shall have a budget of all sorts of news in a few days so I need not be asking of things you are pretty sure to mention, there has nothing of interest transpired since this day week. [Hopps?] is your the Rowletts farm (3 miles off) to insticate [instigate?] for a week he had gotton over his attack all your friends are well & still enquiring about you those you promised to write to are watching for their epistles weather has been quite warm for 5 days. occasional showers I had 2 papers from Alex on Monday send him one today yours Tuesday. you may set your mind quite at rest about me I do not feel lonely since I have had such good accounts from you. I spend every Sunday at Aunt Lynches from 7 A.M. to 4 P.M. & the balance at Church & Mrs M Clevys my board is pretty good, breakfast at 7 dinner 2 super 7 to 1/2. I sometimes walk morning or evening & other times read. I recon [reckon?] I have received all your papers and their contents which were very cheering. I hope they will continue so, our business is still dull so that I have time to speculate in a small way, made over 1$ this week, hope to make 25$ next, give my love to all, kiss son for me, imagine some for self from your loving Husband |
