Transcript | My Dr. [Dear?] John Having this moment heard of a vessel for Yorke [sic], I have but time to say we are all well. Tell yr. [your?] Father, I have after inexpressible difficulty got other's [sic] business fully set tonight, & [and?] that I am going on with the business of the purchase, the only difficulty remaining is the judgement due by Hamilton previous to 1764, and I depend on John Calderwood & [and?] James Henry for idemnifying [sic] against them, They are a dead letter from ages- if no money paid on account of them within these twenty years. I know there has not, but the purchasers cannot take my word for that. From the Dreadful weather that has set in the latter end of harvest there will to a certainty be a Scarcity of Grain & [and?] Fodder in this Country, but Wilson does not think so great, as to justify private Speculation by Importing grain from America The English have Capitulated in Holland & [and?] France is once more victorious every where. I have wrote yr. [your?] father to write Calderwood & [and?] Henry to execute Idemnity [sic] agt. [against?] the above judgts [judges?] which I hope he will not neglect. I hope we will get quit of the Green entirely by 1st December- but I would not have your father draw for any money- til [until?] I advise him it is in Wilson's hands. Great failures here- & [and?] Mercantile bus. [business?] at a stand. [standstill?] Lord Clare has begun the process of divorce agt. [against?] his wife, for Crim [Criminal?] Con [conduct?] with Lord Ormond- Linen falling heavily, next year will be a bad & heavy Year for every thing - Napper Tandy will not be executed- yours ever in haste John Parks Mrs. Leslie is just at my elbow I will send out something for the Girls by Green |
