[o'clock?] thirsday [Thursday?] 23 October 1873 Dear freands [friends?] I write to say that we arrived this morning in Liverpool at about ten oclock [o'clock?] and had not 2 minutes to Sper [Spare?] after having a very Rugh [Rough?] night and a longer passeg [passage?] then [than?] [usual?] & the cildern [children?] never even teasted [tasted?] meat from we left Carlis Marks to 2 oclock [o'clock?] to day nor could we get time to get any thing for them we were the very last gone on bord [board?] and was very near having to go without our boxes owing to them not been forwarded to the dock by the realway [railway?] porters before we got the last well in to ship she was on the way She apears [appears?] to be a fine boat and the stewards appears to treat the passingers [passengers?] with great sivillity [civility?] so I hope we will be all right as we have been so far thanks be to allmighty [almighty?] God for all his mercies and favours to us unworthy Creatiurs [Creatures?] hoping this may find you enjoying good health I add no more but remains your affecned [affectionate?] Onkle [Uncle?] Robert L Porter I hope you wil [will?] excuse my breavity [brevity?] as I have not a good way of writing You will please Envelope this and send it to Mully Glass [Mullaghglass?]. |
