Success to you my bould [bold?] fellow. you have hitherto been bound by flaxen and now are about to find yourself in silken bonds, what a fellow you must be to Require Require [sic] such tying up!!! "Smooth water Runs deep" You have got your finger in the eye of each of us, and the last not least, but best, you are about to put your finger in the eye of our peak favorite [favourite?] "[-----?] Jane" - apt with the one eye which I have unfingered. I can see a peaceful happy and long career of contentment for Mr & Mrs William Young of Fenaghy Cullybackey "the wish is father to the thought." Tell [-----?] that old "[---?] carry one" [-------?] it heavy and light on the [-----?] at the moment and this will recall 30 Pine Street to his mind & also New York generally which after all is quite as gay a City as Ballymena. We had a "big" time on Xmas [Christmas?] day at Hillside, We were a small family [------?] William & Mrs R. [Redmond?] and the eleven children and the son in law [son-in-law?] & cousin Roland. Why [----?] by [-----?] by dancing and allsorts in the evenings. #PAGE 2 Mr R. [Redmond?] has about as much hope of buying a place as I have just now of going to the North River and taking a swim. thermometer 20 above zero. The zinc [-------?] well and I would rather buy than sell at 7$ but I have enough. The late President cost the Company I have no doubt a quarter of a Million of Dollars and came near sinking the stockholders. There is [----?] in the paint and [---?] there always was. I should like to see how "[-------?]" a thing a wedding is and be [------?] at going on 15 proxo [approximately?]: I have been at gatherings before now when your bride-elect was present and I have found then the cause [?] of what your white weddings are "[-------?]". No humbug Willy I am the "old Coon" and when there is a jollyfication [jollification?] in View I should like to see the man aye or woman either could put his finger in my eyes - before [----?]. And your Mother and the young ladies & Aunt Matilda & my bould [bold?] Sam are all going to Cheltenham, well I'll drop in on them, I hope, before many months to allow myself that they are as I wish them to be. My best love to all at Fenaghy and to my cousins elect Jane & Elizabeth and with best regards to Uncle Robert & Mrs Young and to and to [sic] Galgosson [?] John and Tullyclay [?] Willy and their better halves. and generally wishing you all the "Compliments of the Season" Remain truly #PAGE 3 & affectionately Yours R [Roland?] Redmond |
