Transcript | Bloomfields Feb 8th 1863 My Dear Sister Frances & All I received your letter of the 24th Nov And was glad to hear from you And I hope that you are all well, I have had 2 turns of the congestion of the heart but at present I am quite well and all the rest are pretty well Joseph informed you of My, [---?] for [Pence?] And Since the time that he wrote till the present I believe I had a trial ; the case was this in 1859 May the first, I went into partnership with the captain of the [Iam?] Bank as I lost all my money at Morristown I and he [lasted?] the Bloom fields Mills he had the money and me or he paid out 3000 dollars on the Mill and before he had been 5 months he wanted to get me out and I saw that it was impossible to get along with him therefore I signed off and the moment I done So he entered a copius [habeas corpus?] against me and it has been in law ever Since the said case on in Sept 1861 And I was [cash?] and I have been on the hands of the City of [Merceck?] for 1 Year & 7 months I carried it up [sic] to the Supreme Court at [---ton?] [------?] is 4 miles from Bloomfield Since I have been here I turned my attention to [---?] fitting Mother comes down every Saturday the trial date comes on the 20th of this month, his [------?] has to [-----?] the [Sattist?] he could work on the feelings of many[?] that He would give him the place but he [missed?] that One trouble never comes alone Rob Hicersson left his children one year last Dec and mother had all of them till Nov last And [Amy?] got him Willis into the [-----?] Colledge [College] of Philadelphia And all things will be done for him and also a good education and a profession [we have never heard from him since] [Fanny Georgie Jos if Fanny Refords?] I wish Grace and Mother were all at home Amy is Governess for Mrs Declanes family of Peoly [Peola?] Pensylvania [Pennsylvania] and [Piano?] Teacher Joseph and his wife has gone to his Fatherinlaws in the State of Wisconsin as Book keeper in the Home Mill it is 1700 Miles South West of New York they have 2 boys Ian and George . We get a letter every Saturday Joseph [----?] her on this fate he [grabs?] So [gesterely?] he is sorry to take [------ --------?] and show me [--- ---?] Fergy and Josey and as soon as Josey is 7 years old he will get him into the colledge [college] both [-----?] [--?] as you are aware are in a [-----able?] state in their Country [-----?] And blood sheds I expect nothing but desolation since the war commission shire [?] is over 300000 killed and wounded we have over 1000 wounded in the Hospital in [New York?] Joseph was down in [------] he went after his brother in San [Sanfrancisco?] he had to go from Prairie Dio Sac? Wisconsin over 2000 miles his Brother was a captain in the Michican [Michigan?] army he was wounded in the thigh but he has got to think he can walk on crutches what the country is going to come to I do not know it is completely divided against itself the North has an army of One million Now speak of the South Joseph was on the battle fields of Shilo Corinth Lexington Jackson and others they sliced his uncharged?
