Transcript | Miss Weir Dear Friend I just now received your letter and was glad to hear you were all well Lizzie forwarded it to me, I have not had a sick day since I came here only coming on the train it was very cold and the electric or cable cars goes so quick I caught cold in my eyes but since then I cant explain how well I feel, But I have to wear dark glasses all the time to keep the brightness from my eyes I think its a great help to my headaches the glasses I have never had a headache since the week I came Miss Weir put your friend off untill [until?] next summer, We will have a great time going home How I do wish Miss Harrison and you were here I often speak about you both; the north of Ireland are all here I never had such a good time in my life and never felt so well I just have a good time I will keep you and Miss Harrison laughing one weak [week?] when I go home Maggie May says when Lizzie wrote Ma; Ma ask aunt Mary when will she be home to take her to Pontiac the little soul she is anxiously waiting to see Miss Harrison. And Miss Weir Now if you get married and dont write me Miss Harrison and I will [shiveree?] you, I cant exactly tell when I will be home I am invited to so many places here My cousin and her husband came after me yesterday in a carriage we drove through Washington Park Its a beautiful place and South Park too; Chicago is a grand place such handsome parks I was invited to Burlington Park to a picnic on Sunday but would not go on Sunday There were 7 coaches went to it on the lake shore road I was invited to one on the 12th of July out in Burlington Park the trams runs (sic) every half hour I want to get home before that, There are several young men here from Belfast old acquaintances one is a Dr. a graduate of Dublin college he is bound to change my name But I never will, Well it is very warm these few days I can hardly write I wrote to Miss Harrison last week My cousin is a great tease so I could hardly write I hope she will make it out James [stained] will have to go out to Pontiac when I go for a trip so you can get a good laugh again, There is a lady here says if you were dying he would make you lagh [laugh?] [Irish?] sure remember me to all enquiring friends Also Miss Harrison love to all and to yourself write soon from your friend Mary Remember me to Miss Best tell her I will get some more pictures and send her and you one I hope your patients are feeling more comfortable and Miss Harrison sure two gentlemen is going to give you and her a great drive through Detroit. direct to Mary Savage 69th and Paulina Sts Englewood Chicago Ill [Illinois?] Please write soon I will be home as soon as I can so Lizzie and Maggie will get away and us all (sic) write soon goodbye Please excuse all mistakes hoping you will make this scribble off (sic) write soon |
