Transcript | Detroit Nov 8th 1891 Miss Weir Dear friend I received your kind letter. We are always so glad to hear from you & sister Harrison. Lizzie is just terrible with toothache them teeth are all decayed to [the?] roots. Well when we get a letter from you's, Lizzie and I have such a time planing [planning?] Well she says its to [too?] far for Miss Harrison & her to let you and I go to the old country without them She says they could not trust us. She says we'll have to take Miss Harrison along too She says, she supposes James & you would be sparking all the time. She is just teasing me she says wait until you's come in Miss Harrison and her will be saying the folks on the boat will say thats two married couple. Miss Weir I only wish we were ready to go. Well I am waiting every day for a letter & one of Daddys books. I was up at Nicks yesterday. he had just came home from shooting ducks They had a steam yacht They had a great time I heard him telling a man. They fetched a man to cook. And he cooked fish & potatoes with their jackets on. nothing tasted so good as them. We would have wanted some buttermilk but we'll get that in Ireland How is Miss Harrison busy as a nailer I suppose How is Janey Mathewson How do they like the new attendant on 11 How is Miss Gadam has she got her permission yet. How is your big monster is she any comfortable yet. How is Mrs Brown and all the cottage folks Maggie often speaks about them & Mrs Wilcut too How is Mrs Davis on hall 10 But sure I am going up to Goderich Xmas if I am spared. I got a new hat last week a little toque jet crown & jet round the rim & black feathers on it hats are very dear it was 6 dols. We are going out of mourning. What are you's going to have thanksgiving it is coming close. It has been a very nice fall. They are having a great time in the Lyceum Theatre General Booth's daughter from France & the General's son have just landed love to all & hoping you are well from Mary Write soon & send all the news love to Miss H. I think the engineer & her will have to hurry up & go to Ireland too be sure & write soon a long letter Good bye |
