Dear Cousin Eliza

As I have a few leisure moments,
to spare I would sit down

and answer your letter I was

glad to hear of Ann Sinclair

being married And also

your brother Robert moving

into our house we all wish

him good luck and [prosperity?]

and long life you said

you wanted to know if

my father got any letters

from Sam Sinclair

no he dont [didn't?] get anny [any?]

letters or we did dinnt[did not?]

hear from him the

last 3 years. It is very

cold hear[here?] now it rained very

hard on[one?]night you could
not see a finger before you
we went to a leap year boll[ball?]
and when we were comming [coming?] home

our lantern went out on us

and we had to walk home in

the dark we had a hard

time getting home holding by

the fences my brother James

fell in the ditch and got

all wet we all sayd [said?] when

we got home we would

neve [never?] go to another leap
year boll[ball?]
My father wanted me to

tell you that he wanted you
or Margaret to come

out hear[here?] and he will meat
[meet?] you at San Francisco

and quit feeding hogs

and cows and take heart

and come out when you

rite [write] to me tell me if
yous[you?] will come out to California

my father thanks Margaret

for the card she sent him

and also Lucinda and

Martha thanks Maryann

I have got a new dress

that cost 3 pounts[pounds?]and it

is trimed[trimmed?] with blush

we had not a good

time Christmas because we

did not have our Dear

Mother. we went to see

her and Annies grave

we got a good many

presents I am going to

send Sam Lucindas and

Marthas and my own picture

all 4 of us taken to gether

in the spring to you

I guess i have to

close now hoping this will

find you all in good health
