Transcript | Atticall, March 22nd 1880 Dear Brother; Yours duly to hand. I am glad that you and your family are in good health. My mouth is worse than it was. I had to put on a plaster on the part of my lip that was not cut. It is nearly four weeks on now. I am in hopes that it will take they back with it. I hope when I next write that I will be able to say that it is better. I am glad that your son John's health is getting better, he has a long time to study. I am glad that your sons is settled on farms of their own. I think they must be good boys to stay with you so long. Sister Mary's health is very good and James Rodgers Stands it remarkably well for his age he is about 80 years of age. the times is very bad in this Country. I believe Worse than in 1847 when the first Potato failure was. I suppose you were at home at that time or in england. excuse me for not writing Sooner as I could not for what I was suffering from my lip and mouth. With kind love I remain your Affectionate Brother Patrick Sloane |
