Transcript | To: Mr Robert Smyth [Smith?] Philadelphia Lumber [Lombard?] Street Corner 12 in Number From: Mullans May 24th 1840 Dear Cousin I embrace this favourable opertunity [opportunity?] of Wrideing [Writing?] these few lines to let you know that we are all well hoping they will find you in the same thanks to god for his mercies toward us I have nothing Particular to state But this evening I understand My Neihbour [Neighbour?] is going out tomorrow to Philadelphia I take the opertunity [opportunity?] of letting you know that My Cousin James Scot [Scott?] arrived home about the 15th last on hearing from My father on Thursday in Balymoney [Ballymoney?] Market his arrival surprised me I have not seen him or heard anything particular but that you were well he is well as far as I hear Grandfather and father Mother abd family is living and well Unkle Ritchard [Uncle Richard?] and Cousin Hugh and family is all well Cousins Mclehoses [McElhose?] is well there is no Deaths or Mariges [Marriages?] among your Cousins as far as I know I Do not know whether Cousin Scot [Scott?] has wrote or not but I took the freedon of sending with this young man as he did not know of the the opertunity [opportunity?] to let you know we were all well we Join in sending our love to you and Cousin William and family I add no more at present but remins [remain?] yours Jonathan Smyth [Jonathan Smith?] Dear friend the bearer of this letter is one Alexander hamil [Hamill?] of knockans [Knockans?] next town to Me he is a Decent Respectable boy and I hope if he Reaches your length you will be friendly with him and give him any Dirrections [Directions?] he Requires as he is an intimate aquintance [acquaintance?] of Mine |
