Dear Brother
I once more take
the pleasure of writing to you
again to let you know that we
are all well hoping this will
find you enjoying the same.
I may tell you that the
new drums has [sic] arrived safe on
Monday night Andrew McClelland
Jamey Gordon and Jamey McKelvey brought
them from Newtown [Newtownstewart?]
on the fur [fair?] night James Campbell
had a treat waiting for them
till the drums would come
and they started on Tuesday
evening at four o'clock but
the [they?] got a very bad
evening

[Page 2]
very heavy rain and a good
deal of thunder and lightning
they went up by Joe Gilkisons
and on up and went through
Glensass and it cleared up
and they started from Campbells
to go round by the butterslope
but the [they?] got no farther than
James Youngs Glengaw and
they left the drums there and
everyone made home as fast as
they could they are for going
to youngs to morrow evening (Friday)
and fetch them on the drums
pleases them well but they
had no luck with them the
first time the flag is not
come yet

[Page 3]
They wont have too far a
tramp this year on the twelfth
they are all coming to Plumbridge
and I think its time for them to
get it easy they [the?] orangemen
will have a great night on the
30th tomorrow night there are four
to finish. John Gilkison Andrew
McClelland David Houston and James
Barker there are nine or ten of them
getting new sashes so they
will surely look well this year
I think father forgot
to tell you in his last letter
the price of pigs the [they?]
are all the things thats paying now
30s a pig and some of them more
we have eleven now they will

[Page 4]
be three weeks old tomorrow
but the [they?] might have a chance
to be cheap before they are ready
for sale We had very warm weather
here untill [intil?] friday last
and it is raining everyday since
but it will do no harm for every
thing had need of it the corn is
nearly all shot and it is not very
long but it will lengthen now we
will have flax for pulling
in three weeks over at Uncle
Jamess and it is real good we
have all the turf stacked and
the turnips will soon be ready
for thinning so everything
will be early this year I dont
think that there will be an orange
lily for the twelfth
I think there is nothing else
particular this time
