I just thought I would write a few lines let it be very interesting or not, I am not a very good composer of a letter but you will have to excuse me for that fault. I suppose you are preparing hard for your exam by now as two months will not be long wearing in, but if you have good success after hard labour it will not matter so much as we hope you will. We received your letter and papers the next day after we wrote, the war has caused a great deal of alarm every body is looking out for papers the Irish does not give as [Page 2] clear an account of the war as the ones you sent. Willie Houston "Andy's" is for going back to Scotland tomorrow morning again, I think he was hard to keep in humour and he was always tempting the women about marrying so I think they dont care whether he will go or stay. Now I will tell you about the weather; it was very wet up to this last few days but yesterday and today looks like summer. Father, & Tomy [Tommy?] & John, is [sic] cutting turf over in our own land today, & William & Willie Gilky is drawing stones for the road from Andy's land. John has not left as yet I dont hear him talk as much now about going as he did I intend going to something but never got away yet I was thinking about the Civil Service but dont know what about it. No more this time Mary Smyth. |
