Chatham, March 25/93

Dear cousins Bella and Eliza,
I did not receive your letter directly as
it stopped some little time at Woodslee
Was going to write last saturday so almost
all my writing on Saturdays now - but got too
lazy so postponed it for another week.
I cannot tell you much Woodslee news
as all I know about [sic] is what Belle writes
to me, but it is likely James has told you
all that. Will try to tell you a little about
our college life. There were from 110 to 120
students all winter but that number is decreasing
now as a number of young men take a course

during the winter months, and
then leave when the spring works begins.
Shortly after my arrival here one the
teachers left the college and Mr McLachlan
[McLaughlin?] asked me to take part of the
work together with the other studies, so you
see I have plenty of work. It will take me
longer to get through in shorthand on that
account as I havent as much time for it as
I would otherwise have. Do not like it so
well as I did the book keeping. We do not
get out of school as early in the afternoon
as you do; we go at nine at the morning
and stay until twelve, and then we have an
hour and a half in which to get our dinner,
then school again from half past one until
four I
