Dear uncle aunt & cousins,
As Jim was writing
home and I had not written
before thought I thought I would
write some this time.
I scarcely know what to tell
you as I suppose he has told
you all the news has he told
you any thing about the situation
I have here I have to be in the
office two and a half to three
hours each morning and afternoon,
but do not be busy all the time.
The work is quite easy and I have
time to write letters and to read
or study besides. On wet days I do
not need to come at all and I get
a holiday whenever I like to ask
for it. The pay is not very much
$15 or £3 Jim would say per month.
Of course if I had to pay my board
would not work for that, besides not
having to pay for my board I have a
good deal of time at home. It is
nice for that I got my medal two or
three weeks ago - and that reminds me
I must thank you for your
congratulations. I wish I could
run around with it to all my uncles,
aunts and cousins to let them see it.
It seems to me Jim is getting to
like this country better but once in
a while he gets a homesick fit yet,
we can always tell when they come on
him. We would be quite lonesome without
him now, I like to hear him father and
mother and Sara when she is here talk
about the people and the country over
there it makes me want to see you all.
Suppose Jim told you that Annie has
gone to a home of her own; she is
living with Thomas - about 80 or 90
miles from here. She gets very
homesick I am sure mother is
going to her very soon. We Jim
Belle and I were at a Halloween
party Saturday evening Jim did
not care about going but we all
coaxed him, I do not think he
enjoyed it as much as he would one
in Plumbridge or Buck Eden or one
of those places. Well I must close
now as I have some work to do
before going home for the night.
I would like to have you all write
to me; everyone put in a
bit that is the way I like it.

Your loving niece and cousin
Cassie
