Castledamph Feby 29th 1904 Dear Brother A few more lines today just to let you know how Willie John is Well I am glad to say he is still improving the Dr. gave him a couple of pills yest [yesterday] evg. [evening?] & they have openeded [opened?] the bowels. I think all danger is past he had gave him a couple of powders on Friday but they failed to act so if the pills had not done he would been up today & I suppose he would gave something stronger he is allowed half a cup of tea & two arrowroot cake some chicken soup but on no account to let him up out of bed. The Eden and Castledamph scholars had their Photo taken about three weeks ago we have got a copy of each am sending them to Mary so you will see some of your old friends I am sure you won't know any of them unless Miss [Dunne?] & Lizzie & Willie John. the sun for change happened to be shining so that pretty near the half of them closed their eyes or looked down, its very hard to get a group of children taken right Archie McCullagh is wearing glasses so he had to take them off so he does not look to [too?] well he favoured Willie John with giving him one of his dogs to keep while the picture was being taken. Willie John was pretty near never having to sit for another picture we have not a picture of him separate and it was one thing I always would liked to have William & Tom are over beyond ploughing but its appearing to snow some so that its cold for to work outside. John Charlie had a pain in his knee or rather below it for a couple of days last week he went to work today but it is not right better. We had a letter from Annie & Mary today. I must try & write to Annie shortly. I see Mary knew something about cold this year she says you are not enjoying yourself like what you used to. I think people helps to enjoy themselves if they look always at the dard [dark?] side of life its sure to look dark at them try and see everything bright & it will look brighter. Father always is meeting trouble half way so I would strongly advise no one to follow his way. I was telling Tom yesterday he would soon be as good at scolding a [as?] ever Father was, he was thinking he would be late for meeting & everything was a bother to him at least he took it that way. I must close now so good bye [goodbye?] Liza Transcribed by Kyle Smith |
