I can hardly know the reason Unless its because I've Mary to give all the news. We have rec [received?] either 4 or 5 letter from you lately got two letter (sic) & Banquet card last Thursday & on Tue had another & today we rec [received?] the one with our letter of 91. John says he wouldn't know his own writing nor I didn't know mine either (Mary is in bed with [Neuralgia?] has it since Sunday) so I wonder if she will know hers Bella nor I was not at that Soiree in W Duncans Although I remember you telling about it. John cant remember it so a few years makes a difference Mother says it was in 87 you & Wm [William?] went to Glasgow One thing I remember watching you go up the garden you know the lane used to go up there before the new road was made that was the way you went Barry McNamee is still alive and well getting the old age pension so you see he is over 70 years We had Jas [James?] Campbell in a few minutes ago going to the shoemakers, he is also getting the pension what people is over 70 this year & last year if asked their age why they would'nt be much more than 60 Father has applied but Im afraid his valuation is rather high Uncle John is getting the full amount & has no call for it at any rate they are making no use of it only adding it to their bank account. Old Robert McFarland [died?] rather suddenly on Monday Feby 1st he had not been in good health from the Thursday before you know he has been Staying in Uncle James this last couple of years guess they are some thing the better of him as he had upwards of £150 with him John sat up with him the night before he died but young Robert didn't get up [untill?] he was gone In talking of money I suppose you have read of that great legacy that is coming to the Ardstraw people. And I believe it will get the length of this town it appears Aunt [Fannys?] Father was a nephew of this Mrs Knox so Willie John Robert James & Maggie Jane came in as blood relations also their Uncle William Anderson and there is £1000 to be divided among blood relations if found before two years. I say [theres?] nothing like marrying a stranger you don't know your relations whether they are rich or poor In one letter you asked what papers we were getting from Canada. We are rec [received?] (sic) three every week, The Family Hearald [Herald?]. The Weekly mail and Essex Free press I think only for them we would hardly know any thing I wonder Mary did [not?] say we were getting them as its a great hurry to see who gets the big paper as we call the "Family Herald" There is quite a lot a [of?] interesting news in all of them and I read the stories but anything for John only tell him some story you have read. Mary had a book home with her some body gave her coming on the Ocean it is entitled "The Dukes Secret" and there it lay this last four year (sic)& one night I picked it up and began reading so I told Mary she had to getting reading it (sic) and next was [mother?] so at last the book was read. You asked how Cattle &c was doing in one letter. There is nothing paying so well now as young pigs get over 30 shillings for each one. Our stock consist of 9 cows 2 heifers & 3 calves & two bulls besides two horses 5 pigs Thom has about 50 sheep he has not Annie's hill this year. Has taken about 4 acres of Wee Sam Dunn's land for Corn. Wm [William?] has done more dealing all winter than Tom I think he has made very well out of all bargins [bargains?]. Just when I think of it Big Sam Dunne is going to be [Auctioned?] out very shortly in the Chancery, Court. I believe Jas [James?] Houston is looking about £300 by him & he comes in Second so think of what property he owned & has went through it all. Its the Donnells of Strabane who are pushing the law & will get nothing. Father age is 73 this month and mother is 68 same month but neither has the date of birth Wish you saw my Father Now he gave his beard a Great docking up Sunday Your remark went home In that case & perhaps It will be the same with the door any way we were Going to get a new one as soon as John gets time. We have been talking over building byres &c this last while but can't decide where to erect them but I think if the money was plenty the site would soon be chosen I think it wouldn't take much forcing to have this baricade [barricade?] taken away at the back as the pantry & [kitchen?] walls are beginning to shows signs of decay. I think if you come home this summer we may get them up I have a great deal of arguing some times about what will be done I could plan very well if there was somebody to pay Tom Father (sic) Charlie Ballantine & Willie Cochrane are rising [raising?] stones over in Matthews Field below the forth It would be a very good snapshot such a sight of stones no wonder Matthew gave it up. You say you wouldn't know Bertie he has got to be a fine little fellow. He is a great talker if out to learn the piano she (sic) is getting on well at school The Creamery at Eden Mills is pretty near completed & the tenders are out for Plumbridge but I hear the agricultural man has [threw?] it up so it may fall through yet You asked for Jas [James?] McKnights address it is Carnduff P.O. [Iosimbra?] [Sask. N.W.T. I forget Mr Duncans but will get it from Martha first time I am down. Dont know James John Campbell or would have given you it Do you remember the fellow that was with Mr Loney [Looney?] he is out now in Canada at College He wrote for your address after he went out I suppose he never wrote I think I'll close now as I am for Plumbridge will send you the Tyrone Almanac.
