Jan 14th 1903

Dear Brother & Sister
Just a few lines to
tell you John Chars. [Charles?]
met with a rather bad accident
on Friday morning he was sent
to clear of [off?] some snow
that had dammed up
between two roofs & was coming
down on the planning [planeing?]
machine he had a foot on
each roof & driving the snow
before him when he stepped
on the glass & fell through

[Page 2]
We got word on Sat morn [morning?]
so Wm [William?] and Father went
as quick as possible but they
would not get speaking much
to him. Wm [William?] & Davie
and I went in yest [yesterday?]
so we got staying near two hours
he is improving well we had
a letter from him yest [yesterday?]
so I will send it to
you but you may not be able to
make it out he is in Lifford
Infirmary he could not be
in a better place nor better
attended he had a very narrow
escape from death but I hope
he gets on alright Good bye
Liza
