Transcript | [Fiddle strings inside envelope] [Front of Envelope] Envelope addressed to < Mr James Alex Smyth South Woodslee Lock Box 4 Essex County Ontario Canada [Back of Envelope] [Handwritten in Ink] Ans [Answered?] May 25 1894 [Stamped] PLUMBRIDGE C AP 26 94 [Stamped] [-----?] My 7 94 [Letter 1] [Page 1] Castledamph April 26th 1894 Dear Brother Once more I take the pleasure of writing [writing?] to you again We are all well here at this time hopping [hoping?] these few lines will find you all the same The weather is stormy now the potatoes is [sic] kept back a while their [there?] is some thunder and lightening [lightning?] every week their [there?] was heavy thunder on Tuesday but it did not last long Father was in Strabane with the pigs this two last Tuesday he got twenty four shillings down to one pound we sold none under a pound we sold sixteen and we [Page 2] kept three Young Joseph Gilkison has two of them. I suppose you have not much bother with potatoes over their [there?] I think we will be done in an other [another?] day they are all over putting them in at Uncle James's today except mother, Mary and me It has just commenced to rain a while ago but I think it will clear off We have this side of the gravel hole in potatoes and some of the whins and the lower fields next Reids and the ones over at Uncle James. Their [there?] is not many turf cut yet but I suppose in another fort night they [there?] will be plenty at them. I suppose you have not forgot the names of the fields or anything else. [Page 3] Their [there?] is a great deal done with they [the?] potatoes. We sent you a paper last week I will send you another today you will see how well they [the?] Bradley's got of [off?]. Father bought the fiddle strings on Tuesday so we will send them today inside this letter Mary will tell you the kind they are she is going to write a few lines We hear that James McKelvey Hathorn is going to be married on Annie Barcly [Barclay?] it was to be on Thursday last but I hear it will be in fortnight I dont hear anything strange at [present?] The old Black Rabbit is dead something cut her throat about a month ago I would have her 4 years again September .
