This is Sunday evening so I take a few minutes to write before Church. I have not been down at Woodslee for two weeks. Mr. Cresswelles our head Master of the high School gave a party to the pupils (as the number attending School is about 120) they divided them into three lots Friday night from the letter A to I. Saturday [J?] to Q?]- and next friday night to y. of course my name did not come untill [until?] friday but I intend (sic) going down to Woodslee so there I went last night The Games of the evening [New?] Crokonold and Natural history. The crokonold is played with checker and try and knock your opponent [ ?] and who ever had most blocks inside the ring counted. Before starting every one got a ticket and an number on it so you had to get your partner with the same number, and every time one round played you changed partner, and every game you win Mr. [Cressweller?] put a hole in your ticket and the one that one [won?] most game (sic) got a prize of cup and saucer also the one that got least got a doll- I happened to win The doll. Then the natural history. (I enclose My paper) You got 1/2 hour to make out the names of animals bird insects the one that made most in this got an album [The?] lowest some [little?] doll [game?] or before I think I had six done Try how many you can make out of the twelve and I ll [write?] [names?] of all [in?] [next?] no 9 has the name written beside it as a sample. I tell you we had plenty of fun We did not leave untill [until?] twelve o-clock. We are having weekly examinations now in every subject to-morrow is drawing. I took 50 mark (sic) on Grammer [Grammar?] & and Bookkeeping was last Monday but the mark will not be up untill [until?] to-morrow. We will have a new teacher this week last one was not good enough in science so he get (sic) the run as they call it here the assistant which they before (sic) this one was good but he got a rise of 45£ in another school so he left here, Weddings and breaking cars seems to be the order of the day over there just now. I think the people are going to the bad. I think Alex Duncan getting (sic) around to what fits him now. The next thing I expect to hear is that him & still and all are taken thats what it will end up in How did our own School do on the examinations I hope Mary gets along all right [alright?] but She should be taken up some of the higher branches and give her all the chance that is possible I hope you don t allow her to cut all the turnips this Year. She should get - plenty of time for her lessons I do not have half an hour from I leave School to I get back I rec. [received?] a letter from Willie Gilkinson last week I will answer pretty soon I suppose James Huston [Houston?] is [expecting?] one I never answered his yet Give us all the news when you write. I have [run?] short of note paper so I took some of my books Perhaps you will hardly be able to read this it is quite a scrall [scrawl?] but if you can make it out it is all right [alright?] It is after 10 Sunday night I went to Church since I started this so I will finish.
