Who would Wolsley exchange places with? Many men have brought themselves into prominence in Her [Majesty’s?] Service. It is a nice life & plenty of food and quite often a change from one country to another. I tell you there is never much made by all staying at-one occupation. I see you have a [fun?] bycicle [bicycle?] there. There [They?] are the whole go [Page 2] There are about one hundred bycicles [bicycles?] in this town almost every boy & girl has got has got one. I saw about fifteen pass in a row here a little while ago. Farmers and every other body have bycicles [bicycles?]. If John A Duncan was over here he would just be John A [Duncan?] and nothing else and he would not cut much of a figure with that style of talking, he had when I was home. That was a very good notion for Willie Johns If he would carry it out it would be all right [alright?] I suppose when five years are up you wont bother with roads any more. I suppose the road surveyor thinks he is somebody when he is a surveyor. It might be lowering him a little if he spoke to a contractor. Transcribed by Gary Campbell |
