The people here are all in good health. I am down here now for a few days. School closed on Tuesday so we have a few day before examination. The pupils who are trying for enterance [entrance?] are writing on their exams yesterday today & tomorrow. We commence on Tuesday first and then we have until the 3rd of Sept for holidays I send you the annual report of the school you will see a picture of the building and report of all the pupils which passed last year. Teaching Staff and information in general I will also send one or two of last week's examinations. I do not know what marks I took except in Latin & [Cushing?] told me I got highest marks in it 81% I will send you the paper when they are published. It is very warm weather here, just now it is 90 deg in the shade today and yesterday. Uncle is busy in the hay and wheat harvest these days I dont think I will do any work until exams is over I suppose I will be away for, this twelfth. They [the?] celebration is at a place called [Wheately?]. I suppose you people have heard all about elections for Chas. [Charles?] Tupper & Conservative Government got defeated. It kept considerable excitement here during the last few months. How is Willie John you never seem to mention his name when writing. Has he forgot me I suppose he will be going over to see that new friend of his. It was a good thing that you did not employ an attorney like Sarah you saved expense for once. I suppose you will have a big day in the twelth I have not heard where you are going yet Give us all the news when you write & change from Essex to Woodslee on your address until Sept. I would like to be going for a trip now during holidays and have lots of fun It is very dull times around Woodslee and especally at my Uncls [Uncle's?] hardly any fun, any how I would have more fun at home in a month than here in six. I think this is all I will write at this time, Just enough to let you know I am alive give me all particulars of twelfth I remain Your Brother James A Smyth |
