Dear Parents Brothers & Sisters
I once more
take the pleasure of letting
you know that we are all
well in this Country I
received your letter last week
I see that you got beat [sic]
in your case I suppose you
wont get your £4 - 4 now
I think you might [sic] knowed
[sic] for not to bring the case
to the Assizes and the grand
jury both it will cost
a good deal of money
anyway I suppose the [there?]

[Page 2]
are hot times now about
Old Margets [Margaret’s] money
but again it goes to law there
will not be much for each
When does Willie J Duncan and
Joe think of comming [coming?]
the best time for them to come
would be in April; do you know
are the [they?] Both going to
College or what are they going
to do Willie J wrote to Cassie
about going to College Have
they there [their?] grand house
finished yet I suppose that will be
the nicest house there [their?]
Cousins will see when they go over
there It will take you to have
yours better furnished in
every way than it was when I
left or else [I?] wont let them
go back with me I think you

[Page 3]
might plant some triss [trees?] and
fix it up someway nice this spring if
they [the?] women and girls were out
here a while they would learn what a
nice house was and how to keep it
it [sic] much nicer with a pair of
slipper [sic] on walking on a carpet
besides over there picking one step
through the floor for fear to get
wet I am giving you long enough
warning about these things Me and
Uncle was [sic] rolling the lawn in
front of the house to-day for to have
it smooth to play Croquet on after a
while The weather here has been very
fine for the last week it is drying
up the ground very well it will be
the middle of April before we
commence work on the farm yet
We have seven sheep now [3?] of
them has [sic] lambed the first one

[Page 4]
lambed about two days ago [it?]
was cold at the time and I dont
watch them as well as I did at
home and she had two lambs and
the [they?] were both frozen in
the morning the others had only
one We have 12 head of cattle 2
of them is [sic] calved one of
them just calved to-day they never
look about anything in this Country
let the cow calve alone and pigs and
everything the calve [calf?] was
running along with the cow to-day
when we noticed it no trouble sitting
up with anything here not much trouble
Feeding cattle either the [they?]
never be in nor never gets any tnips
[turnips?] we feed them corn fodder
night and morning (throws it to them
in the yard and that [sic] all they get I
attend the horses better than you do)
No more at this time
