Transcript | [No Envelope] [Incomplete letter] South Woodslee October 21st 1892 Mon cher ami I now take the pleasure of writing to you for the first time I promised to write to you when I left but I left it off from one time to another to it has run this far but sometime is better than never We are all well in this Country and Tillie is well too. Hoping the arrival of this note will find you all in good health We have very nice weather here this last month or more some mornings is [sic] a little frosty we had our first [page 2] frost about a month ago I suppose you people are about finishing up your harvest now we are far ahead in that we have ours finished since. August crops dont take as long to ripen in this Country, oats are sowed the same time as the [they?] are in Ireland and the [they?] are always ready for Cotting [cutting?] in the first week in August Wheat is sown in September it is about 5 or six inches high now it look [looks?] well for a good crop next year The wheat crop was not as good in this part of Canada this year as it was last the crops were all below the average this year I hardly know what to tell you that will interest you but there is a great difference between America and the Emerald Isle farming is [Letter incomplete] Transcribed by Greg Floyd |
