Irish St., Strabane Dec 29th 07 Dear Brother I have just got in to Strabane after Xmas Holidays I was at home since Tuesday it was a dull sort of a (sic) xmas Davey & Bella came up after Dinner time & stayed to near eleven Bob McKernan and Jammie [Jamie?] Gilkison was in we played some games we fired at a target Father beat us all Wm. [William?] was next best I suppose you were vexed not been at the wedding well I did not know nothing about it to about 14 days before I think she knew something about it long ago but she was not sure and then she did well to keep it dark we had a grand time I tell you we [wee?] Houston as we call him he played himself he was no way backward at all we made masons the country full of them now everybody a mason now we [wee?] Houston had been told before hand & when we called him down he let on he did not know it but before very long he copped his heels up. Lizzie McCullagh & Miss Cole Andy McClelland & Myself we done all the acting we made D Dunbar & you might say we had some fun one time he said [Dam-it what is it] you would laugh to hear us all going over the same thing Uncle James he would make to loose his pants and the girls would turn away he got off very handy then we had the fish we had some good laugh (sic) at it Houston started it the [there] are a lot of party's [parties?] now Bella & Davy was at one in Mrs Hamilton's and the [there?] will be another in D Dunbars again Friday night Wm [William?] Tom & Liza is invited I would been at it if I had been at home the [there?] will be another in C. McC shortly and another in Gilkisons you would not believe our house was so lonely to you would be in it from ever Mary left the fun left to [too?} I always thought a lot of Mary more so than any of them I think great long some times when I [join?] to think the times we had all together all gone now you & Mary & Bella away. But its nothing in a way besides Gilkisons house we can come home & meet all together again they can not I said to myself on the twelfth that we would not go out the same way again & when I made the remark openly everybody had the same thought I dont know what you thought ask Mary & she'll tell you the same thing. Well Ill tell you something about Strabane. I forgot to tell Mary what I was getting I started with. 15s. the boss was telling me he would give me a rise shortly so I expect to get 18 or 1£ now you can tell Mary the band went to Derry on the 18 Dec they play parts they love Drum music I be up with them every practicing night. I am stopping with Mrs McFarland Joseph McFarlands son John is in her farm. They [There?] are 3 girls & 3 boys including myself so we have some fun [while?] they [the?] boys are (sic) Mr Bucannon Bicycle shop] Mr Hugh's Clerk G N R and J C S next Miss Arbucle Coffee stand Miss Kier Dressmaker Miss Armstrong shop girl, We are going to have a party tomorrow night Mrs Mc is giving it we are going to sit up to the new year comes in the bands will be out. I will write & tell you all in the next I would have written long agow [ago?] only for fear you would criticise Eliza told me you would not you know Im not to [too?] well up in Grammar what could you expect fifth second stage got no further.
