My Dear James
On.ce. More I write a few lines to
let you Know we are all in good
Helth [Health?] At present thank God
For all his Kindness – we received
your letter on Saturday april and we are
still Glad to hear that you enJoy
good helth [health?] wich [which?]
is above all other things –
I am quite well now But the
Sounding Keeps going on in my ear
But I think when the summer comes
it will go away. But my hearing
is pretty good now - and as for
work I go on as usual up early
and work hard all Day I have only
Been one day on the road cince
[since?] November

We got the £40 of the road money all
right. I now enclose £5 pounds to
you wich [which?] I hope will be with
you in Due time - and wich [which?] will
do you for a few more weeks we are glad
to have it awlys [always?] ready for you
we have a Cow to Buy and Tom is going to
lave [leave?] the remender [remainder?]
in sheep we have [three?] lambs at this
date he Bought 4 heavy with lam [lamb?]
in the Plum [Plumbridge?] 15s each, one
of them lambed this morning early and it
was dead he Bought 15 in Gortin yesterday
from 8s to 13s 6d each I think he will get
a few more again the P [Plumbridge?] fair
I got William Gilky pound [sic] we neither
got stock or intrest [interest?] from your
Uncle James as yet they hav [have?]
£4 – 7s - 6d to get from A Duncan Straughroy
Omagh its now 4 years Due and they sent
him two letters but no money

Dear James as for over the
Burn I think they are a whipping [well?]
with there [their?] own road the talk has
settled Down they deserve all they have
got and more - There [Their?] mouth
is stopped and it was hard to Do - We
have not all the corn sowed as yet we
have up the Burn to sow we would
have it Done to Day [today?] But last
night was very wett [wet?] and we
can do nothing at it to Day [today?]
we have half acre of the potatoes
in But nothing done in the garding
[garden?]
Dear James I have nothing [particular?]
to send only a [sic] young man picture that
we got a few Days ago - I dont know
whither [whether?] you will know
him or not we had a letter from
Tomy [Tommy?] Hay he is well as yet

We had a letter from Thompson
Liverpool and one from W [Willie?]
Hay so I think John will not go to it
well we have the Beds removed up
and we have the joices [joists?] layed
[laid?] and the half of the flooring at
this Date Thursday the 7th So we will try
and have a good room now if we can - we
have the Cross Ditch removed and a good
Drain sunk and all in one field ploughed
out of the lee [lea?] it looks pretty
well we Drained a good lot up the Burn
and had to ramber [rampart?] nearly all
round the Burn - we put in some good stones
I will tell you some other time about the
Burn Willie Glass – Aughlean [Aghalane?]
is [sic] got married to a daughter of Andrew
[Kilt?] Down near Claudy this is his second
wife – all in good helth [health?]-
