I got the Free Press yesterday and I see your name where you gave a speech at Grace Methodist Church. I suppose you were also at the party or ball in the Town Hall last night. There was a lecture in Knox Church last night by Mr. Drummond, Montreal. Annie and Charlie went to hear him and they were telling me that Miss Risdon played a few violin solos. so if I had known that she was going to played [play?] I would have been there. I had a paper from Bella this week with the death of Sarah Duncan, Strathroy [in?] it and marked opposite it was "very sudden". I haven't heard anything since so I suppose they are likely up there and hadn't time to write. She died on the 6th. It surprised me for she seemed so big and strong. I had a letter from Liza a [long?] [time?] ago and she said that Bella was home from Edinburgh sick with consumption. Have you decided to came (sic) down here at Easter or [not?]. I think that Uncle and Bell [Belle?] are coming for a few days. I suppose you will have a week [week's] holidays. The inspector of High Schools and [Collegiate?] Institutes has been here for the last three days. He dont [don t] (sic) look much like our inspectors at home. He looks something like an old farmer. A great big stout man with a grey suit and the pants a different grey from the other parts. He had us all read and he was also in for some of the other subjects to hear the teachers how they taught. Well as to my music I am doing very well. I have just taken 20 lessons after [I?] take one on Monday So that is $10 besides strings and other things. She is going to give me a solo next day so that I can play out whenever I have it well practised [practiced?]. I fell on the sidewalk one day when it was slippery and hurt my right arm so that I couldn't practice and I had to skip a lesson. I am going skating this afternoon so I must finish this and post it on my way. As skating will soon be over for this winter I [am?] anxious to get learned.
