Willie John Duncan, New Zealand, is dead died Oct 27th only ill few days. His people got the letter yesterday So that was pretty sad news. Everybody is sorry for them. His employer wrote and gave a full account as he was with him during his illness and when he died. They get [got?] several cards from those who put wreaths on the coffin. Thomas Duncan & Son was at the funeral he is 120 miles from where [Willie?] was also a son of Beck Barker's was at the funeral. Wm [William?] was over last night and Liza & I am going over this afternoon. There is a singing class twice a week in Eden School a techer [teacher?] from Derry is coming to all the congregations in the presbytery. They have got a telephone at the Plum [Plumbridge?] now still getting more civilized William McCleery and Miss Hazelet (Mr [Steen's?] girl) are going to be married Thursday at 12 o'clock Every body [Everybody?] is going to shower them, epectations [expectations?] for a great day and night at the Plum [Plumbridge?]. [Armour?] Hamilton has been very ill with rheumatic fever for six weeks. Dr Thompson Omagh was down Sunday and has no hopes of his recovery. James A Smith, Letterbratt [Letterbrat?] died yesterday with brain fever. Quite a few ailing at present. I must say your last few letters were very interesting. If you can say nothing but scold all the time. I got enough of it over there came home for peace so I dont want to hear any more of it, also the others are tired of such letters, of no benefit unless to make people feel bad, I think you should have more thought for your mother who has been working hard all her days for us & you especially Good By [Goodbye?] Mary Transcribed by Greg Floyd |
