Transcript | [Front of envelope] Miss E.C.Smyth Castledamph Plumbridge Co.Tyrone Ireland [Stamped] SOUTHWOODSLEE AP 2 02 ONT [Back of envelope] [Postmark] NEWTOWNSTEWART MY 2 02 South Woodslee, April 20th 1902, Sunday 11 oclock Dear People Well I suppose you will be thinking I have forgot all about you I think you are much the same I was expecting to get a letter before I would write. But I suppose there may be one for me tomorrow I had no time this last week to write with these Evangelistic meetings my spare time is all taken up. Uncle and Aunt is at church today I did not go as this is the last day for the Evangelists and they are taking up a free will offering so I did not think that I could go twice and pay. I will go at night and every one [everyone?] is to pay according to their income So I will not give any for I have not any income. I may give them [25?] cents They are for having a lecture tomorrow night. I believe it will be very good admission [25?] cents. They are getting a good many converts. They tell the Christians all to stand up so I be left sitting with the sinners. Then those that want to be Christians is asked to go up to the altar so I went up Friday night about fourteen of us altogether I think its about time there was a revival over there. I think when I see the people [there?] the [sic] they are almost half dead there in some respects I don't think they are half as religious as they are here. Jim was to come down last night but didn't come I was up to Essex a week ago I went up Thursday & came down Saturday night to see how he was getting along. I had some notion of going up there for the next two month [sic] but "I guess" I wont as it would cost more than here I would have to keep up to the style. I'll make him get me a bicycle I think it would be cheaper anyway. I had a letter almost half written at school on Friday but forgot to bring it home with me so I had to just write another. This day is just beautiful just nice to be outside only that it makes one so tanned Spring has come at last [or?] it looks something like our summer I dread the summer coming as I know it will be very warm and I having to walk to school no matter what happens. I may try the Entrance Exam but I wouldn't if I would think that I wouldn't pass but I'll try it anyway hit or miss Uncle has got a little fellow here from Bernardo's [Barnardo's] [Home?] he came from Canterbury his mother lives there he is about the size of Willie John but older They have a great time with him as he don't know what they say nor they don't know what he says. I was asking him if ever he saw the soldiers there he says he did. Well I forget if I wrote a letter since Easter I don't know, I think I wrote one to Mrs Houston since I just ate three eggs. Belle's hens are all dying now and she has the greatest work running after the turkeys they are laying back in the woods and she can't get the eggs. Uncle is sowing corn now I think and when he comes in at night he is hardly fit to move I don't know whether they are [saving?] or whether the [they?] cant get a boy or what but I think they would need one anyway They have'nt got another offer for the farm yet. John C. [Charles?] wrote to Jim for the lend of money to buy a bycicle [bicycle?] I don't know whether he has sent it or not. I thought J.C [John Charles?] was saving some of his own, now. Well I must hurry up and get this finished and get ready to go to Sunday school I will post this on my Way. Sunday school is at 3 oclock till four. and then gets back and Church at half past seven so there is not much time to spare. Well I hope you are all well as we are at present I don't think I have any more to say this time so Good bye for the present I am writing this on my knee as Belle is setting the table for dinner M.
