Transcript | [Front of letter] Mr J.J. Smyth, Plumbridge. Co.Tyrone, Ireland [Stamped] ST. THOMAS AP 29 04 ONT. [Page 1] St. Thomas Ap. 28th 04 Dear People, I am sure you will be waiting for a letter pretty near as long as I was. I got your letter on Tuesday I did not know what was the matter with you when you were not writing. I have just come in after being out all the evening (9.30 now) I was invited out to a girlfriends of mine We had a lovely time [Page 2] I am just getting acquainted now when I am leaving. They have a piano & she is a fine player (Mckellar is their name) I was just thinking while she was playing tonight how different it would be at home. She was trying to coax her mother to let her go with me She says she will be sure to go some time. She is going to school will be trying for her certificate to teach this seminar. Well tomorrow is my last day at school in Canada. I am going up to Essex or Woodslee about the 24th May so they are for having a great celebration in Windsor that day so I [Page 3] want to be there. Miss Pisdon wanted me to stay down here until the first week in June as she is going to have a concert then & she wants me to play in the orchestra but I cant stay as I want to go home for the 12th now so that I would have very little time in Woodslee or Essex I am somewhat sorry to leave but I will have to forget that. I have had such a good time since I have been here that I know I will miss it when I go home but I suppose I will have other things that I want now so that the one will balance with the other. [Page 4] I see by your letter that Mr James had a concert well if they had a few more like that they would be better off. They wouldn't have so much quarrelling. John must be getting a pretty good player I don't wonder but he may beat me yet. I wish I had another year of it. Do you think I can take when (sic) I go home? Where is the 12th July celebration going to be held this year? or it decided yet I thought it over since I last wrote so I thought I would like to be there for the 12th as I have been absent two now. Good Bye Must Close. M. [Mary?] Smyth |
