Transcript | [Front of Envelope] Mr J A Smyth Essex Ont [Stamped] St.Thomas 16 SP 5 03 ONT [Back of Envelope] ESSEX SP7 03 ONT [Page 1] ST Thomas Sept 4th 03 Dear Brother A few lines to let you know how I’m getting along down here I started to school Tuesday somewhat larger than Essex. I think I will like it alright. They have got eight teachers there just one lady teacher and she remembers me of one of the Miss Hamiltons I am in the second form. Say if you have a Physics text Book or Note Book that you don’t need I would like to have it. Cass is coming down to London Fair I think so you could send it with her if you have it. I have had to get a few new books on literature We are studying Dickens [Page 2] The Cold Stream Guards are going to be here Monday the 14th We are going to hear them. They will be in the Grand Opera House. I am thinking of going over a day to London Fair. It is not very much from here Will you have the Free Press sent to Box 1103 for it is a bother to always have to ask for it This is a nice hilly place around here. From where I sit in school I can see the hills a little ways off. Some of them planted with trees There was a swell wedding here Wednesday at the Church The brides people lived near to the Collegiate So we had a view [Page 3] of all the movements. They drove to church in a white carriage and two fine white horses. I saw in the paper where the guests numbered about two hundred I intend to start taking violin lessons Tomorrow from a Miss Risdon She is all the teacher outside of the Conservatory. I will take a few from her anyway to I see how I will like it Saturday I am going up town now so I want to finish this & post it. Good bye M. [Mary?] Smyth Box 1104 St Thomas P.S. I wouldn't mind having my standing of last years work from Mr [Auglin?] MS [Mary Smyth?] |
