[received?] your letter a few days ago and I intended to write before this but this is my busiest time I haven't got much time to spare & attend to all as I should but by this day week it will be all over We are having that concert on June 9th, Thursday, so we are kept busy practising We practiced Saturday night Monday, Wednesday, & Sat again and Monday & here on Thursday afternoon so that we are kept busy I walk to their place going but I take the street car coming home it is quite a ways [sic] from here. Last night I was th [the?] only one in the car and I thought we were a long time coming. June 3rd Friday:- Another day [in?] and I have still neglected to finish this. I see by your letters that you expect me home for the 12th but by this time you will know differ [different?] I would like to be there for it but we can't get everything I have changed pens so probably you would be all day making out what I say. This is lovely weather we have yesterday & Friday but we had rain a few days before. Annie had a few girls in last night and women also. There were two Miss Campbells and Miss Page and Miss Forbes, Mrs Campbell & Mrs Collinson, We had ice cream and cake and a nice time. Chs. [Charles?] was out so it was a hen party only for Glen & Leslie. I think I will go up to Woodslee the next day after the concert or Saturd [Saturday?] Jim was talking of coming down for it but I dont know whether he will or not yet. He would have to miss school for a day & a half at the least, and at this time of the year it would not show very much interest in his work, however, he can decide for himself I would like him [to?] be here for it but it costs $5 to come on the train. I see by your letter that your excursion is on the same day. Got the fashion sheet yesterday their [there?] dont seem like very much difference in the styles here & there they dont keep up with it there I think that is why. I have got my last years dress made over into an [a?] short Eton jacket. I needn't describe it you may see it by & by. I am getting a white [lustre?] for the concert, I tell you I hated to spend the money but all the others were getting new ones - I didn't have any very good ones so I thought I had better get one Jim said I would need one anyway for the boat. I don't think I'll need to get any clothes for the next few years. After I get home. Jim has given me a supply The people think here that Jim is not like many other brothers. Sometimes I think that I don't appreciate what he is doing for me as I ought. He certainly has spent quite a bit of money on me but he is careless about it anyway so he might as well have spent it on me as somewhere else. He is very well pleased because I am able to play in this concert. I suppose Madge will soon be able to walk home, I had another dream about her and Bella last night I wonder if she'll look like what I see her in my dreams when I see her as she is. Liza was talking about getting things fixed up so as things wouldn't look as I had left them but I think Madge will be the most striking feature to see her at home. I am sure when Bella was sick you must have been all busy to do the work at home there both. I think you need a biycle [bicycle?] there to run up & down Get a ladies [wheel?} & it would do the men also. It would save a lot of time on the way. I have to get a new trunk to go home as this little one is too small for my things so that will be $6 more. Think how the money goes. Must close now & go to Annies Goodbye M.Smyth [Mary Smyth?] Hope you are all well Transcribed by Julie Simms |
