Transcript | TELEPHONE 162. NOTARY PUBLIC. C. E. ABBOTT, ATTORNEY AND COUNSELOR AT LAW. UNION BLOCK, 513 N. MAIN STREET, FREMONT, NEB. Aug. 24, 1900 Mr. Wm. [William?] E. Baxter, Dear Sir:--- Your brother, Mr. Adam Baxter, has had me looking after the matter of the transfer of the Bank of Ireland stock to your mother, and has just called at my office with your letter of a recent date calling attention to the fact that the transfer had not been made. Mr. Baxter is perfectly willing to make the transfer to your mother and would not for the world embarrass either you or her. All Mr. Baxter asks is that it be done in such a way that it will not react on him in the future. Under date of May 16th I wrote Messrs. Joshua E. Peel & Son a letter suggesting several ways that the transfer could be made and protect Mr. Baxter. I enclose you herewith a copy of that letter. We have never received a reply from the gentlemen. It seems to me that their [there?] can certainly be no objection to having the form recite that the authority of the brokers is limited to transferring the stock to Mrs. Baxter to sign the power of attorney that Mr. Peel mailed him and will send us Mrs. Baxter's receipt for the stock why I will advise him to sign it. Mr. Baxter wants to feel satisfied when he makes the transfer that he is not in danger of trouble at some future day. Trusting that this will be sufficiently explanatory, and that we will be able to get the entire matter adjusted at an early day, I am, Very truly yours, C E Abbott |
