| Transcript | 1225 Milan St New Orleans Nov 14 1910 My dear Major Campbell The "Ides of march" are drawing near – December will be here in a fortnight & I would like to get matters into shape before then. We followed the history of the [Norin?] in the Gulf with breathless interest & were delighted when we read in the papers that the Esperanza had arrived safely at Havana. I hope you were none the worse for your service experience. Have you had any news in re the Congress affair? I do not know if you are now in the City of Mexico. From newspaper accounts they are having a lively time down there ; but I know you don't object to that kind of thing - You are inured & accustomed to master circumstances of rebellious tendencies - New Orleans is redolent with Indian Summer beauty I hope it won't get too hot for me in many ways - I am sending this to San Jose & I hope it will be forwarded to you - My daughter joins me in kindest thoughts & great gratitude to you for the interest you showed & I am sure have taken in our case. Hoping to hear from you soon. Yours Very Sincerely N.B. [Natilie?] [Bouligny?] Smyth. |
