Transcript | South Woodslee., March 16 91 Dear brother, I received your letter of February 26th and in answer would Say as to clothing tweed would be the best for suits. fine white shirts home made ones is no use in this country flanel [flannel?] is used a good Deal corse [coarse?] shoes is no good either i think this is all thats necessary in that line unmade cloathing [clothing?] would be liable to duty and it would not pay to bring them. And as to anny [any?] of those things it will depend on how you are fixed as to money when he comes here I will wrige [rig?] him up. As to the working of horses he would have to learn when he came here anyhow if he has a liking to work with them it will be allright [alright?] if he comes to stay with me. The best thing would be for [him?] to go to School this yare [year?] and he wont have to rise so early. Dont put your selves to any expence in fixing him onless [unless?] you are able. leave that to me in my last i think I gave you a history of every thing as to farming and early raising I forot [forgot?] to tell you why. the men in this country has to dow [do?] all the milking besides their other work and that has to be done early this is all i think we are glad too here [hear?] that you are all well or at least reasonable [reasonably?] so, for helth [health?] is one of the great Blessings of this life. you say you are near dun [done?] ploughing and has fine weather and today we have about eight inches of Snow and verry [very?] cold no sines [signs?] of spring, Don't forget to send four or more pounds of Brown oats with James if he comes and some of the whin seeds if you can get it. If James comes by New York he may come through Canada on what is called the canada Division of the Michigan central or as we call it the C.S.R. or if by quebec by the C.P.R.
