"Dear Sarah" [her sister-in-law] [address unknown].

574 Locust Street,
Philadelphia, April 9th 1897

My Dear Sarah,
I do not feel encourgaed to write you again but
I must I do not see any other way. Sarah you surely recognise
the wishes that forced me to lay everything bare to you in my
letter. Your letters to your brother have always been so kind
I felt that if you but knew how he was placed you would surely
help him. I have no relatives of my own to go to in my trouble
and help must come from somewhere as it is what Willie and I
earn is scarcely enough to keep the wolf from the door, since
the giving up of his business he is doing work he is not
accustomed to and it is only slow starvation. Since I wrote
you the property where we live has changed hands our agent
insists on a full settlement of all we owe him and the house
by May 1st or our household goods will be sold to meet the
debt. I have disposed of some articles of value that I have
but all that I have realized is $25 leaving still $75 to make
up and what to do now I [--?] know. Sarah I feel you are in a
position to help your brother and I appeal to you if you have
any affection for him help him in his present trouble
Sincerely,
Ida.
