Transcript | Phila [Philadelphia?] Aug 10/76 [10 1876?] Mrs Rebecca Clark I received your letter this day you want to know if this is the same Mr Fife as was in Mr Smiths in Strabane ___ he is the sam [same?] John Fife if your son comes on here we will give him all they [the?] information about the mater [matter?] that we know of it there is Neither Mr Fife or me has got any convenient way of acconodating [accommodating?] more than our own familys [families?] but we can find him accomodition [accommodation?] ellse wher [elsewhere?] just as cheep [cheap?] say from five to six dollars per week I spak [speak?] candid so that you will know how to take things I wood [would?] say frther [further?] that Clark and Fair can keep that money for one year after Mathew Brook death if you can place confidence in Either John Fife or me send one of us they [the?] Power of Attorney and I will garentee [guarantee?] we will act fair and square with you we will charge you nothing for our searvises [services?] it will cost your son a considerable sum of money to come and stay here and see it through Thomas Fair has the name of having sum [some?] property but as fr [for?] principle he has got none that is good that I know of and my opinion of Clark is not verry [very?] high because I heard him say he wood [would?] let as little of the money go home as he chood [could?] or none if he chood [could?] help it.
