| Transcript | Canfield Aug. 29th 87 [1887?] Dear Uncle, It is with pleasure I now take the opportunity of writing you a few lines to let you know that we are well at present hoping to hear from you. Enjoying the same blessing i have wrote several letters to you and never received an answer from any of them Uncle John Lowrie told me they had word from you so i came to the conclusion I would write and see if i would have any luck this time mother had a light stroke of paralsis [paralysis?] in the spring but she is able to be around But has no use of her left hand otherwise she seems about as good as before only she is weaker than before. We have had an awful dry summer here and the crops all suffered in consequence farmers in this section have all thrashed their crops and some odd ones have started to sow fall wheat but the majority will start sowing the first week in September i am going to write a short letter this time but if this one is answered I will give you all the particulars in my next one Uncle John Lowrie and family are all well. Mr & Mrs Cranston and family were well the last we heard from them Give our love to my Aunt & cousins hoping soon to hear from you all and remain Your Affectionate Nephew Jno.
