Transcript | Mr Andrew Lowry, Argrey c/o John McGregor - Raphoe Cy [County?] Donegal Ireland Canfield Sept 19th 92 [1892?] Dear Uncle & family I now take pleasure in sending you these few lines to let you know that we are all well at present hoping to hear from you all Enjoying the same, I Received your last letter in due course and was glad to hear you were all well, and likewise two papers, & yesterday I Received your photo, althou [although?] I never mind of Seeing you, I knew the photo as soon as I saw it, the family all favour Each other any person could have told that Mother & Uncle John Lowrie were Brother & Sister, and the time mother went to pittsburgh to see uncle Alex, the people in that section Said if Alex Lowrie had a sister living that Mother was that person crops in this section are not quite up to the Expectation of farmers owing to a verry [very?] wet spring the Hay Crop was above the average every body has lots of hay but Spring grain on Low land was partly killed out But on high land an Average crop - fall wheat the Same Low land poor & poor Sample high ground a good Average crop - Yielding according to high & Low Land from 8 to 30 Bus. [Bushels?] per Acre, Root crop in this section is a failure this Season, especially Potatoes I will not have as many after digging as I planted & my neighbours are all in the same Box, the farmers in this section are all done Seeding and fall wheat is growing Splendid in an other [another?] week if the weather keeps favorable it will be covering the ground and there is a large #PAGE 2 quantity of it sown No 2 I was in Hamilton last friday & Saturday I saw Mrs Cranston & family they were all well and all Busy at work her oldest Son has Rented a farm about 1 1/2 miles from us and is going to move on it the first of Oct. he was over & Put in 10 Acres of fall wheat, he rented for 5 yrs [years?] over 200 Acres pays $225.00 per year cousin John Lowrie & family are all well they are close by we see them every day - Mother keeps her health exceedingly well she is around all the time she was verry [very?] lonesome for a long time after uncle Johns death she missed his [him?] verry [very?] much for he was a daily visitor and there was an other [another?] old gentleman Mr Kipling he was in every day and he died on the 18th of Aug't [August?] and she misses him verry [very?] much she was aquainted [acquainted?] with him ever since we came to Canada Mother thanks you for your picture she says it is a Lowrie all Right [alright?] she wants you to give her Respects to Robert Blain & tell him if she was near him she would have her picture taken I will get her to go with me some time when I am going to Dunnville & I will get them taken & send you one - we all join in Sending our love to you all - I will have to come to a close or you Will get tired Reading so no more at Present & I send you some papers with this Letter from Your Affectionate Nephew Jno [John?] Walker Canfield P.O.
