Transcript | Mr Andrew Lowry Raphoe - By Donegal Ireland Caufield 11th = 8th = 91 Dear Uncle & family I now take pleasure in sending you these few lines to let you know that we are all in the enjoyment of good health hoping to hear from you and yours enjoying the same Blessing I received your last letter in due course and we were glad to hear you were all well hoping you may long continue to enjoy the same. Mother keeps very smart she is able to [be?] around all the time she was over in Oneida visiting lately and I think it does her good she seems to feel better after a time as long as the weather keeps [favorable?] but when the cold weather sets in she will be obliged to keep to the house Mrs Cranston of Tapleytown is visiting us at present I happened to be at home and I gave them all the fun they wanted she says it is better than a dose of medicine for I kept them laughing all the time we had a very dry summer no rain worth speaking of all summer still crops were wonderful for the chance they had, hay crop is verry [very?] light with us but as for other crops we can not complain I send you a paper with this letter so you will see Our market reports it is still verry [very?] dry at present farmers are all buisy [busy?] [fall?]-plowing [ploughing?] but they are anxious for Rain Sod fields plows [ploughs?] verry [very?] hard. Uncle John Lowry is Still on the path we are sure to have him in our House twice a day & sometimes three times a day he keeps gaining he is a good deal stronger than he was and still keeps gaining his son and family are all well they are only a quarter of a mile from us I did not do so well in Agricultural Machinery this Summer on Account of dry weather farmers were verry [very?] timid about Buying but we have to take the Bitter with the Sweet hoping to do better in future I am buisy [busy?] with Auctioneering at present there are quite a number of farm [?] sales but will soon wind up now.
