Dear Sister

I recieved[received?] yours
a few days ago and hasten
to answer very glad to know
you are well as this writing
leaves me Thank you very
much for what you sent I
will not return just now as
I may need some of it. I did
not look for it so much as I
did a letter from you I am
so glad you enjoyed your vacation
I wish I could be with you to see
some of our old friends I had
a letter from Willie Weir to day
he says he is not going to
have a Stepmother and I am
very glad for his sake he is well
but has been quite busy lately
not with fire but by having
some repairs made on their
Engine I sent only one letter
to Mr Andrews that was an
answer to the first he wrote
me The other I did not reply to
you spoke of Mr Wood letter
that he sent to me of late he
seems to be a true good man
what do you really think of
him he asked me to be my
best fellow I am not well enough
acquainted with him to take
him as such but he may be my
best friend until I know
him better he sent his own
picture to me some time ago
in his last letter he sent me
a picture taken on the last Fourth
of July in front of the building
with all the Fire Co. also he
said he would send me all the
place if he could if you should
see him please tell him how
highly I prize it and how
much I thank him I had a
short letter from HOME but
very little news in it There
was much more in yours So
poor Mrs Hoagland is gone
I have often thought of her I really
liked her very much I hope God will
forgive me if I was unkind to her
The girls will find out when they
come here they had better stayed
where they were I had a very nice
letter from Mr Gladdam at
Napa he promised to be my friend
and do what he could for me but I
had never asked him for naught he said
If I happened to write to you about the
asylum to say nothing to the girls
about it as it was useless The [They?]
have elected a new Supt [Superintendent?]
there temporarily I am expecting
an opening at any time dont
say nothing to any of them if they
should ask you except I am
going to be married advantageouly
[advantageously?] Mr Kimball I have not
seen in some time but I hear of
all that is transpiring through
an old nightwatch lady that
calls on me once in a while
There is a couple of widows
that keep close watch of his
movements They are much
pleasanter at Napa besides
Mr Gladdam would be there
I like him much better
than Jay you said nothing
about [Lottie?] if she is
married I have not written
to Mrs Kelly in some time but
mean too [to?] Calafornia
[California?] is so pleasant
now everthing [everything?] seems
so pleasant So little storm
in winter yet there is more
people seeking work today
in Stockton than I ever saw
in Michigan in my life There
seems so many changes do they
like Dr Burr as well as usual
and has he given up improving
yet I must write to Mr Wood
but I hardly know what to
say I will close to night
hoping to hear from you
as soon as possible as
Ever Your Sister
Isabella Weir
With Best Love
