Transcript | Stockton Dec 28th 1890 Dear Sister I send you these few lines in answer to yours which I recieved [received?] yesterday I was glad to know you was well as this leaves me in just now things are very dull here now the weather is dark & foggy & quite cold So poor old Aunty Mead is dead and Grandma Mead is still in the land of the living what excitement Changes you are having there I wish I could see you all for a short time I sometime regret leaving there But it is only momentarily I am out of the Asylum now for a short The (sic) Seems to have become involved in Debt & had to dispense with some of their Help me and two others But I have a promise of a position in the Spring I will apply at Napa which is another Large Asylum I dont know if Mr Kimball has written to [L----?] anything of it you med nut [might not?] say aught about it I had a letter from Mr Andrews which I answered just as if I was still there he asked to help to procure a position there and one from Mr Wood For the same purpose you tell him From me he is much better off where he is than he would be by coming here There is Green Fields far away I will write to him myself I would marry him in a minute But he would be disappointed if he came here to make more money every thing is so high never mind if the General [Qusta?] Comes here They will regret it there is no gold for the picking up That I knew before I came here Qualifications is not the main object it is money & influence you spoke of Mothers Being very Sick I had a letter from there they said she was tolerably well now and promised to send me a paper I did not say anything about going home to them and have not thought much of it myself I had no letter from Willie in Sometime I Sent him a Small pin at Xmas Cost me four doll [dollars?] he has not written since tell Mr Wood to address his letter to Stockton P.O. But dont say anything about my being out of the Asylum it may be only for a few months and is not worth while mentioning I leave it to you to keep him there as long as you can I am in Comfortable Circumstances for the present take good care of yourself until I see you my sister my love my all Your Sister Bell |
