My Dear Annie
I will be expecting
a letter from you before this
reaches you hoping that
you will excuse me if I have
done any thing amiss by
calling to see your Sister
but I shall always respect
her as a friend & I dont
think you could blame
me for it of course she
might think me silly for
going all the way from
fresno to see her as I
never told her that I had
any other business but I
dont care for that part of
it when you come out I
I shant want any invitation
to come then Dear Annie
I think it is the best thing
you could do is to come out
before winter anyhow so that
if we would intend staying any
longer here we could arrange
about starting some business
as the spring would be the
best time & if we would
agree about going home
then we could do that besides
I would be more satisfied
if you were out here so I
would have some place to
go on a vacation if I had
you along with me I think
we could stand Bella off
then wait until you come
out if we dont have a time
it will be because we dont
know how the boys round the
Engine house had it reported
that I was off getting married
but the news was too good
to be true they told the
chief so he was congratulating
me when I come [came?] back
but never mind Annie
they wont miss it every
time the weather is fine
here now we dont think
anything of 100ø in the
shade fruit is paying well
here this season & raisins
never paid better they are
making from 100 to 150 & 200
dollars per acre of grapes
so you can see vineyards
pay here 6« cts pr
[cents per?] pound for raisins
in the sweat box it would
not take many acres to come
to a years wages I had a
big notion of buying 20
acres in a new colony that
they have opened out about
8 miles but I dont like to
bind myself down under the
circumstances until I see you
& then we can make further
arrangements I have not much
more to say at present
hoping that this wont make
you tired I must conclud
[conclude?] by sending
my fondest regards
I remain your Sincere
Lover to death
[Billie?]

please write soon good
bye for the present
