I suppose you [wi--?][torn] [---?] other letter w[torn] [---?] [--d?] [not?] [have?] w[torn] Annie do you think for a moment that I would have the heart to be carrying you along & be engaged to another. I hope to die if I am holding correspondence with any other lady on the [top?] of the earth to day [outside?] of you & your Sister & I am sure your sister knows what my intentions are towards you that is not my style I have went with [---?] back home & in Liverpool [----?] [-eave?] as well as I am [---?] that I would ever.... Dear Annie the tone of your letter sounded very much like you intended to come out in the spring I would very much like if you would come out before spring and escape that severe winter there you will just be as happy & as content out here & have the pleasure of seeing some sunshine during winter Bella likes it much better out here I can hardly describe how lonely I felt after I come down from Stockton I dare say I would feel more so if you were up there if you do come out I would like very much for you to send me a telegram when you would leave & I would ask for a leave of absence for a week & we would have a jolly old time I had a letter from Bella a few days ago & she is well also I did not have any letters from home yet [Jamey?] Weir is in Liverpool he is driving a street car there for over a year I heard he was trying to save money enough to bring Maggie J Johnston out to America that is William Johnstons girl that was raised in Edward Armstrongs of Tierwinney he is stopping at the same place where I stopped when I was coalheaving I had a letter from my old landlord some time ago he was telling me about some of my old chums enquiring about me the weather here is fine now the nights is nice and cool to sleep school has started up again there is a school 1 block & a half from us here we have lots of company with the scholars going back and forth they have been trying some murderers here in the last week one was tried for shooting his intended because she went back on him there was ten witnesses swore they seen him hold her by the hair with one hand & shoot her three times when she had fell on her knees begging for her life they only sentenced him to penitentiary for life and [another?] for shooting a man got aquitted[acquitted?] because the dead man had a name of being quarrelsome We think that Jury should get 5 years in Jail themselves they dont punish for crime here so now I must conclude hoping to hear from you soon again I remain as ever your Sincere Lover W.
