Transcript | Fresno Cal [California?] Mar 17th 92 My Dear Annie Yours to hand & contents noted I was rather surprised at your proposed visit home it aroused a new feeling in my heart I only wished that I was free to go along with you but I have to stick it out here another summer in regard to your going home if you have got an [App--ing?] with parties you know as you have been talking so much about going to see your mother my advice to you is to go & take a vacation and I sincerely hope you will enjoy yourself i have been thinking strongly of taking in the worlds fair next year & extending my trip homewards. I have been like you I have been working steady going on 6 years now & I think it will soon be time [torn] vacation we ha[torn] [have?] so long to live in this world anyhow & we may as well try & enjoy ourselves while we are [here?] I only wish I was going too Well I must tell you about that tug of war the first night we pulled there was a large house & the next night the [goad?] [good?] army had a camp fire & that took most of the people out there there was 4 teams pulled the 1st night- our team won the 1st night & then we had to pull with the other winning team for first prize we pulled 30 minutes & they declared it a draw at the end but we are going to pull it out at the pavillion well we are busy ploughing the 2nd time now the vines are coming out in good shape I have got a fine young horse now to run round in the cart he can trot a mile in less than three minutes well must conclude for the present hoping to hear from you soon [torn] your affectionate [torn] Will |
