Transcript | Fresno [May?] 4th 1892 My Dear Annie Just a few lines to let you know that I am well at present hoping that this will find you enjoying good health, now I hope you will excuse me for not writing sooner. but I think you will excuse me under the circumstances I think you will. I forget whether I told you that I bought Anderson out the work was at a standstill for two weeks therefore I had to get in & rustle I had to get him men to do the hoeing, I have been laid up with the Grippe or something very like it for the past week I have just got around again I think I got it from a cold. I was breaking a horse and got warm I did not take proper care of my self. I suppose you will be surprised to hear of my Sister Ellen being out in the states she came with the simpson girls of [Kelsmallin?] she has got a job with a Lady in New Jersey she likes this country well I guess I have all I can [manage?] for this year we have a very heavy rain something unusual for May in this country. I suppose you seen about the earthquakes we had in California this is getting to be a notable place. I hope you wont be thinking anything serious has happened I had been thinking of you many a time & I knew you would be wondering what had become of me but I have not forgot you yet let me know when you write if you have any further accounts of your home trip my home is turning out to be very desolate now it appears that all that was Cared for is gone I have about half a dozen letters to write something I never neglected in my life but it was impossible for me to write under the circumstances & I will have a couple of weeks busy work yet I have got the vines all to sulphur yet. I am figuring on going in the harvest field for 5 or 6 weeks after I get the work all done up I want to try to make my [expense?] as light as possible I want to try & make all I can this year as probably I may take a vacation next year well I have not much more to say at present hoping to hear from you soon again is the wish of your loving & affectionate Willie I remain as ever yours good bye for the present |
