| Transcript | Perry Town May 19 / 1866 My Dear Brother, You will be surprised at the date of my letter I did not get it finished then, so I commenced another since then but it did not suit me, so I drew to the old one, and will try finish it, you have no idea how much I have to do. Our baby was christened on Christmass [Christmas?] day in Perry town church, he is called Robert Reid and I wish you could see him, let George know and [stained] him and [?] and [?] my kind love and thanks for his newspapers. As pine, for lumber is altogether done in this section Joseph has got a chance of buying a lot of 100 acres of bush land about 5 miles from here it is the only piece within that distance that has any quantity of pine on it, he hopes to clear the price of it off a small part of it, and I want to know if you, or amongst you can lend him £50 for a few years, I hope there will be no doubt of your getting it all safe again. I assure you we live very prudent interest is so out of all bounds here, that it is frightsome to think of borrowing, now Thomas let nothing delay you from writing to us by return of mail if possible, and let us know, if you can, and on what terms, and if you cannot, write and let us know, if you could not comman- [command?] it for a few weeks he could wait, only let him know so that he could act in prospect. Should you send it try and let it come by the Bank of Upper Canada Joseph says it is safest. I presume by this James Wilson is amongst you, if not he will soon be. I asked the children what they wanted Uncle Thomas to send them, John said a knife, Sarah & Ellen both said a necklace, and Anna Maria's ambitions are to candy send her some Ladies' fancies, I have been telling them of [off?]. them and their Mother is childish enough to expect, something be it ever so trifling. kind love and regard to you one all James Boland's family were all well last acct [account?]. Margaret & Elizabeth, Ellen are very pretty girls, now dear T. [Thomas?] write immediately M. J. Wilson We are all well now, 3 of the children are going to school and learning nicely. I had a letter from Uncle Carroll in the winter give him my love and [Js?] respects. |
