Transcript | Dear Matty New York 5th September 1787 Above you have Copy of my last & the 30th past I recd [received?] the pleasure of yours 26 June the Mail from here of that Month had but 19 days passage therefore you woud [would?] get more of the 6th by her soon after you wrote Hugh Gaine who is a very worthy Character & has known me from my infancy havg [having?] served his time to Frank Jay had taken a great deal of pains & gone to a heavy expense in the Education of his son, but all of a sudden he took to drinking which I fear shortened his days. I hope you have been at Cottown ere this, as its proper now & then, & that you make the Tennants [tenants?] more punctual. I am sorry to hear of sister Bells indisposition, if she woud [would?] Chew a little Rhubarb when she has that Complaint it would relieve her, its what always relieves me & is one of Dennys prescriptions to me. I can add nothing about the Company affairs untill [until?] Mr Sadler returns. I think the Bank may be a useful institution & beneficial to the Proprietors. I did not know Mrs Apsly. Mrs Smith was Mary Ann Jones, an old Acquaintance of mine therefore shoud [should?] be pleased to hear of her Recovery. I am heartily Disposed to return as soon as I possibly can, & you are fully Acquainted with my Situation, I shall be able to send you & Mr Isaac some fine Aples [apples?] this Winter & some other thing, whether I remain here or not I am with Love to our Sisters Dr [Dear?] My [Matty?] HY [Hamilton Young?] Pacquet Belfast [------?] |
