Transcript | Dear Matty New York 7th Nov. [November?] 1787 The annexed is Copy of what I wrote you the 3rd Octr [October?] & the 27th June yours of the 28 of Augt [August?] The Scott I mentioned I take to be from Bangor shall be glad you can find him for the Young mans sake. My motive for payg [paying?] Mr Clark is to save the Interest which is worth doing, I assure you I am making use of every means in my power to come to you, but apprehend it wont be before early in the summer as I do not like to encounter a Winters passage, I have got a Copy of the peoples Remarks with you, which I am answering I shall transmit you a Copy of both then you will see I cant expect to leave this before the time I mentiond [mentioned?] the late Sir Wm [William?] Johnson sowed Whin Leeds at his Place & it throve [thrived?] very well, therefore youl [you will?] oblige me by sending it. I am much obliged to James Finlay for his attention to you, also Mr Whites family, likewise Mr [Keane?], I wish you had gone to see him, he certainly has behaved with the utmost politeness. I shall put onboard the Brig Minerva Capt Eccles tomorrow two bundles of aple [apple?] trees, each containing 6 [Spitzenberg?] & 6 Newton Pippin trees, one of which I would have given to James Finlay to plant, as I may want part of them & the other you may give Mr Ker [Kerr?] or divide them with Mr White as you think right. I am also sending by her a large Keg of Peaches & one of Peppers put up by Mr Apthorps Seven fine young ladies purposely for you & sisters, youl [you will?] no doubt send Mr Isaac some of them. I spent the day there yesterday I have engaged two barels [barrels?] Super fine flower [flour?] & has got two barels [barrels?] of fine Newton peppers to send you & him by next oppy [opportunity?] also a box of the seeds of Flowering Shrubs & forrest [forest?] trees which I hope will prove agreeable. I did not know Mr Jordins [Jordan?] family lived in Belfast I shall write a few lines by the Brig [Endeavour?] to Mr Campbell with Comp [Compliments?] to all friends & love to you & sisters I am &c HY [Hamilton?] [Young?] |
