Transcript | Dear Matty New York 7 May 1788 Above you have Copy of mine of the 2 April & [then?] [I?] recd [received?] yours 29 Jany [January?] but am really disappointed in not hearing from you by the March Mail as [the?] [Inny?] [of?] [Derry?] from here arrived in 24 days & Capt Dillon was arrived neither have I heard from Mr Norris since the 31 Octr [October?] I assure you I am very uneasy until I know the Cause I sent you the Copy of peoples letters with you & my answer by the former I had no reason from [Felthants?] former Conduct to think he woud [would?] have acted as he has done, but Mankind are lyable [liable?] to those acts of ingratitude & I make my self as easy as I can, not hearing from Mr Norris leaves me much in the Dark. I thank you for your remittence to him, tho if I have any Justice done me here shall be able to remit instead of Drawing I thought when the Bank was establishg [establishing?] it woud [would?] create Jealousy. [Thin?] Notes are not the thing I never liked them. There is not the least foundation to my knowledge of what you mention with respect to myself I am glad the Pickles proved agreeable & hope the aples [apples?] did likewise please Acquaint Mr Isaac that McCormick will send home the Girl by first oppy [opportunity?] Will [William?] Clark has left more money than I expected & am glad Stewart [Dordskis?] has left his family in good circumstances Mr Parkes place will be a good Birth for someone or other I can do nothing further in Mitchels affair untill [until?] I see you.
