Transcript | Dear Matty New York 10 Oct 1788 I wrote you the 3d Sept as we remain without hearing from you. The Augt [August?] pacquet being not yet arrived, hope she soon will. I am doing what I can on the Settlemt [Settlement?] of affairs here. but the distressd [distressed?] situation of this country [side?] makes it a difficult task. I have got a bag of Preserved Peaches from Mrs Bruce & one of Peppers from the Miss [Althorps?] for you & Sisters & have ingaged [engaged?] some good aples [apples?] for you & Mrs [Isaac?] & as Pork is reasonable shall send you a barell [barrel?] of Hony [Honey?] in the Winter. In hopes of eating part of them with you next summer. There is great preparations Making here for Meeting Congress under their new Constitution. I can form no Judgement of the effect it will have at present.
